Step-by-Step Guide to Reconstitution
Reconstitution is the process of adding bacteriostatic water to a lyophilised research peptide powder so it becomes a usable liquid solution for laboratory research purposes.
This guide is intended for general research preparation only. Éleva Peptide Labs products are supplied strictly for laboratory research use and are not for human or veterinary consumption, application, or injection.
What You’ll Need
Before starting, make sure you have:
-
Lyophilised research peptide vial
-
Bacteriostatic water
-
Reconstitution needle + syringe
-
Measuring syringes
-
Alcohol wipes
-
Clean preparation area
Step 1: Prepare Your Area
Wash your hands and prepare a clean, flat surface. Keep all items sealed until you are ready to use them.
Wipe the tops of both vials with an alcohol wipe before drawing or transferring any liquid.
Step 2: Draw Up Bacteriostatic Water
Using your reconstitution needle and syringe, draw up the desired amount of bacteriostatic water.
Common reconstitution volumes are usually 1ml, 2ml, or 3ml depending on the vial size and the concentration required for research calculations.
Step 3: Add Water Slowly
Note: Lyophilised peptide vials are commonly vacuum sealed. When inserting the reconstitution needle, you may notice the liquid being naturally pulled into the vial or the syringe plunger moving on its own. This is normal and simply indicates the vacuum seal is intact.
Insert the needle into the peptide vial and slowly release the bacteriostatic water down the inside wall of the vial.
Avoid blasting the liquid directly onto the powder. A slow, gentle transfer helps protect the compound and allows it to dissolve more evenly.
Step 4: Gently Mix
DO NOT SHAKE VIAL.
Instead, gently roll or swirl the vial between your fingers until the powder has fully dissolved.
The solution should appear clear once fully reconstituted. If particles remain, allow the vial to sit briefly and gently swirl again.
Peptides are made up of delicate amino acid chains that may be sensitive to excessive force. Gentle mixing helps maintain the integrity of the compound while allowing it to fully dissolve.
Step 5: Label and Store
Once reconstituted, label the vial with the date of reconstitution.
Store according to the product’s recommended storage guidance. In most cases, reconstituted research peptides are kept refrigerated and protected from heat and direct light.
Step 6: Use a Measuring Syringe for Research Calculations
After reconstitution, a measuring syringe can be used to draw accurate liquid volumes for research measurement purposes.
Always calculate concentration carefully before use. Concentration depends on:
-
The amount of peptide in the vial
-
The amount of bacteriostatic water added
-
The intended research measurement
Important Reminder
Before purchasing a lyophilised research peptide, make sure you also have the accessories required for reconstitution.
